(Continued – Information provided by Employee Health & Benefits)

Coventry Health Care is a national insurance company that provides group retiree health care benefits.  As a part of our programs, we are committed to working collaboratively with community stakeholders as partners in the delivery of comprehensive health care services that holistically address members’ medical, behavioral and social needs.  We believe this approach in invaluable to ensuring members get the most from their health care benefits and take full advantage of all of the resources available to them.

A representative of Coventry Health Care recently reached out to your agency to inform you that we have been selected to provide the State of Maine’s retiree health care benefits and to begin the process of building a partnership with your agency.  This document provides additional information on our company and the State of Maine’s benefit program.  We look forward to working with you to serve the State of Maine’s retirees.

Coventry Health Care will be providing the State’s retiree health care benefits effective January 1, 2009

The State of Maine Employee Health Commission has recently selected Coventry Health Care to provide retiree health care benefits to the state’s nearly 6,800 Medicare-eligible retirees.  This program will be effective January 1, 2009 and is a full replacement.  As a result, Coventry will be the health care provider for all State retirees who receive their health care coverage through the state.

Coventry Health Care was selected because of our ability to deliver high-quality health care benefits that are cost-effective

Coventry Health Care was awarded the State’s business after a formal, competitive bidding process where Coventry’s technical and financial proposals were found to be the most advantageous to both the State and its members in terms of quality of benefits and cost savings.  Coventry is a national, Fortune 500 healthcare company with 10+ years of Medicare experience.

Advantra Freedom is a Medicare Advantage Private Fee-for-Service plan

Coventry Health Care will be providing the State’s retirees with access to comprehensive medical and pharmacy health care coverage through our Medicare Advantage Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) program called Advantra Freedom and Advantra Rx, our Part D prescription drug plan.

As a PFFS plan, Advantra Freedom provides the advantages of being a national retiree health care plan that eliminates network boundaries and provides members with the freedom to see any provider who accepts Coventry Health Care’s terms and conditions.  Coventry Health Care is implementing a comprehensive provider communications plan that includes contacting providers throughout Maine and other areas where retirees reside to educate them on Advantra Freedom and confirm their willingness to participate.

Coventry Health Care has matched the state’s previous benefit plan design to ensure a seamless transition, while also adding enhancements

To ensure a seamless transition, Coventry Health Care’s program retains the current health care benefit levels enjoyed by retirees, including no deductibles and no co-payments for services such as doctor’s office visits, outpatient rehabilitation and chiropractic and podiatry services.

On top of this, we have enhanced the benefits available to retirees to include an array of health and wellness services, social worker services, a 24-hour nurse information line, disease management programs, as well as care coordination and case management.

Coventry Health Care is committed to keeping members informed throughout the transition and has already launched a comprehensive member communication plan

Coventry Health Care has created and is leading the execution of a comprehensive, multi-faceted communication plan designed to provide members with timely information about the new program and the transition process.  Some of these communication initiatives include mailings, such as postcards and informational packets that will educate members on their new benefits, as well as a customized DVD that talks about the new program.  In addition, in partnership with the State, we will be hosting Advantra Informational Meetings, which will give members the opportunity to hear about the program first hand and ask questions directly of our staff.
