CIGNA DENTAL PLAN
The member dental benefit offers high-quality care for MAR members at a reasonable cost. By keeping dental coverage affordable and services excellent, MAR members can maintain their smiles. At-risk patients receive additional benefits like increased cleaning frequency and periodontal maintenance (up to 4 times a year). A Vision Discount Program is also available at no cost to subscribers and their dependents, providing up to 35% off eye-wear at participating providers nationwide.

AETNA VISION PLAN
The Aetna Vision Plan will remain the same with the same benefits and premiums starting July 1, 2024. However, the Maine Association of Retirees (MAR) will now be your plan sponsor instead of the State of Maine. If you are currently enrolled, you were automatically re-enrolled in the Aetna Vision Plan on July 1, 2024, and you do not need to take any action unless you wish to change your coverage level, such as from retiree only to retiree +1.
Vision plan premiums will be automatically deducted from your Maine State Retirement pension each month. This aims to make your payment process easier. The premium amounts and benefits will remain the same during this transition, effective July 1, 2024.
All Aetna Vision applications will be processed the first of the month following receipt.
If your eye care provider is not part of the Aetna Vision In-Network, you can request a billing form from the MAR office and submit your bill directly. You will likely need to pay for your care upfront and then get reimbursed through this process.
Your Vision plan ID card will show an effective date of July 1, 2024. You can also download and print a card from your secure Aetna member portal after enrolling.
