Volunteer Ombudsman Representatives Needed
Volunteers advocate for residents of nursing homes, residential care, and assisted living facilities. All backgrounds are welcome; the shared goal is to improve the quality of life for older adults and individuals with disabilities.

Paid Volunteer – Magazine Distributor
Seeking a reliable person to distribute 8 issues per year statewide. Travel is required for 2–3 weeks at a time. Lodging, travel allowance, company vehicle, and gas reimbursement provided. Ideal for retirees.

Tax-Aide

Tax Assistance Volunteers
Provide free tax help to individuals 50+ and families earning $60,000 or less. No experience needed; training and support provided.

Volunteer roles include:

  • Scheduling, technology, or training support

Meals on Wheels

Volunteers needed in Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Somerset, Waldo Counties, and the towns of Harpswell and Brunswick.

Meals on Wheels provide nutritious meals and wellness checks to homebound seniors.

Ani-Meals (Meals on Wheels for Pets)

Support seniors in feeding their pets by donating unopened dry pet food or volunteering.

Adult Day Program Volunteers
Help seniors with memory issues enjoy activities while their caregivers get a needed break. Volunteers assist with crafts, music, exercise, and more at the Bath-based program.

Volunteers help serve refreshments, organize donations, and maintain a positive space. A welcoming day center for individuals experiencing homelessness, isolation, or low income.


Volunteer Train Crew Members
Help operate historic trains, serve as museum docents, and share Maine's rail history with visitors along scenic Casco Bay. Training and parking provided.

CASA volunteers serve as guardians ad litem, advocating for the best interests of children in child protection cases.

Volunteers needed to read aloud to children under age 5 in local childcare centers. Just one hour a week can make a lasting difference.

Foster Grandparent Program

Volunteers aged 55+ serve 15–40 hours per week as tutors and mentors to children (Pre-K through high school). Positions available statewide (except Cumberland and York Counties). Benefits include stipends, mileage, and insurance.
