Phishing
One of the most common online threats today is phishing. These are emails or text messages that look legitimate but are designed to trick you into clicking a link, opening an attachment, or sharing personal information. They often claim to be from banks, delivery services, Medicare, Social Security, or even family members in urgent situations.
A good rule of thumb is to pause before acting. Legitimate organizations will not pressure you to act immediately or ask for sensitive information by email or text. If something seems suspicious, do not click links. Instead, contact the organization directly using a phone number or website you already trust.
